Jun 29, 2010 Sanity Check Entertainment prepares launch of Warmaker, a free browser based deathmatch MMORPG
With the trend for casual gaming in the browser gaming space going towards the free to play model but with limited options in the 3d browser multiplayer variety, Sanity Check Entertainment has announced Warmaker (http://www.war-maker.com). Warmaker, a deathmatch online with mmorpg elements, is slated for a late summer release in 2010.
The gameplay style of Warmaker would be familiar to anyone who has experience playing any tradtional MMORPG game but if you combined the engaging structure of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Instead of repeatedly grinding on NPC’s players will be encouraged to fight other players to gain their levels in a variety of maps. There will be player achievements, web profiles to track server rank/status and a wide variety of skills to further enhance avatar customization.
“We feel there is great untapped potential in the casual MMORPG game space, somewhere between traditional MMORPG subscription based titles like World of Warcraft and the 2d Flash MMORPG’s out currently.” says Derek Young, co-founder of Sanity Check Entertainment. “Warmaker will aim to deliver high quality game elements in a free to play browser based game experience. Once we release we believe strongly there will be nothing similar in scope and quality to Warmaker in the free to play browser market.”
In Warmaker you will have some familiar classic fantasy themes to go up against players from all over the world in heated player vs player competition. Featured playable game races will include Humans, Orcs, Elves and Dwarves. The aim is to play from a variety of game modes such as Team Deathmatch or Free for All with more game modes planned to be released at a later time. Warmaker aims to deliver high quality traditional client-based 3d graphics inside a free to play browser setting using the Adobe Shockwave engine.
“The Shockwave engine might not be new but when compared to browser penetration, there is nothing that compares. I would much rather someone with an older PC be able to play Warmaker than having the fanciest next-gen graphic techniques.” says Young.
Warmaker is entirely free, but players can purchase premium items and upgrades. The game will generate its revenue from in game currency purchases made through traditional payment solutions such as Paypal, and offer completion methods such as Sponsorpay, SuperRewards and Rixty.
Warmaker intends on releasing a private alpha test soon in mid 2010 once the development is further along. If you have more questions regarding Warmaker, please contact derek[at]sanitycheckentertainment.com
